About the Directors

Peter Richardson

Peter studied with Alexander Baillie at the RSAMD. He has extensive experience as a cello tutor and conductor of youth ensembles. He is currently cello tutor at The Royal Grammar School (Jesmond), Kings Priory (Tynemouth) and the recently televised Sage Gateshead’s In Harmony programme, based in the West End of Newcastle.

Hannah Tattersfield

Completed her undergraduate studies in Music at Newcastle University in 2013 before embarking on a career as a freelance teacher and violinist in the North East. In 2015, Hannah joined the Swedish National Orchestral Academy in Gothenburg where she trained for two years as an orchestral violinist with Øyvor Volle and Marja Inkenen-Engström. Whilst in Sweden, she taught alongside Venezuelan conductor Ron Davis Alvarez on several El Sistema projects and, upon returning to Newcastle in 2017, she joined Sage Gateshead’s In Harmony project. Hannah is very active as a performer and plays regularly with a variety of ensembles, as well as teaching violin and viola in schools and music centres in the area.

Katrina Buzzard

Completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies in clarinet at Newcastle University, and has since established a busy teaching and performing career in the North East. Katrina firmly believes in the benefits of ensemble playing for young musicians and, aside from her instrumental teaching, has established a number of educational ensembles in the region. She is also a tutor for Sage Gateshead’s In Harmony programme, which is an ensemble-based Sistema project in the West End of Newcastle. Alongside her work with ensembles, Katrina is a keen arranger and is passionate about making classical repertoire accessible to all ages and abilities.
